Terrell Owens
The big star in the Big D Terrell Owens is now a dallas cowboy and he couldnt be happier. Terrell Owens has had such a spectacular career so far and expects to have another outstanding year this season playing for the cowboys. The history or Terrell Owens is a very enjoyable one if you were to be following it through a newspaper or just by following his career all these years. Terrell Owens born Terrell Eldorado Owens on December 7, 1973 in Alexander city Alabama. Owens wasted no time in getting involved in the sports scene at his high school Benjamin Russell where he excelled in football, track, basketball and baseball. After his high school years were over he decided to go to college and the college he chose was the university of Tennesse where he played basketball, track, and football. growing up Owens admired the great Jerry Rice ni which he payed respect to him by wearing number 80 on his college jersey
to show the people how much jerry rice meant to TO. His first season was a tough one where he played very limited games and he only caught six passes for 97 yards, but his sophmore season his team recieved a new head coach and promoted him a starter where he went on to catching 38 passes for 724 yards. Owens junior year was his breakout year because he was the headline to the offense catching over 58 passes for more than 836 yards and six touchdowns. His senior year wasn't as great because he faced double coverage from defenses every week and that made it harder for him to make the bigger plays. Owens decided to go pro and was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the 1996 NFL draft, Owens was so happy to be playing next to his idol Jerry Rice but he still was able to conduct himself the right way on the football field during practices. Owens went on to play his first professional game against the Atlanta Falcons where he served as a special teams player. During the 97 season Owens became a household name wit
h the 49ers when his idol Jerry Rice went down early in the season with a torn ACl, both Owens and quarterback Steve Young helped the 49ers win 13 games that season. During a wildcard playoff game that year owens dropped a number of passes but quickly redeemed himself when he caught the game winning touchdown pass against the Green Bay Packers for the 30-27 comeback victory, they call this play The Catch 2. The following season in the bay area was nothing short of a nightmare as they finished with a 4-12 record, when at the end of the 99 season Steve Young retired and Jeff Garcia recieved the starting position from the 49ers at Quarterback. During the 2001 campaign the niners managed to put up a 12-4 record but were defeated by the Green Bay Packers yet again in the wild card round. That season was a tainted one however because of the ongoing feuds with Garcia, Owens, and Steve Mariucci. After two more season with the niners Owens left the team and during an interview with playboy magazine Owens was quoted in
saying that Jeff Garcia was gay. The following year Owens turned up in Philadelphia to play for the eagles, where the fans were excited to have him and automatically started saying that this was the year for the superbowl with this team. The 2004 season was a tremendous success for Owens and the eagles in the early going where they won seven straigth games and their last 13 of 14, but then tragedy struck for the city and the fans when Dallas Cowboys safety Roy Williams was chasing Owens down after he caught a pass and it was then that Roy Williams horse collared him and as a result fractured his fibula. During several press conferences and talks with Owens after the eagles were set to play in the superbowl Owens stated that he would play in the game no matter what and that took the media and many coaches by suprise. Owens delivered on his promise and played ni the game and did considerably well having 9 catches and 122 yards to show for it. Even though the eagles lost that game Owens was still happy with what
he accomplished and after the game he actually lashed out at the media saying that if he was Brett Favre he would have been praised for such bravery. Before the start of the 2005 season Owens started some controversy with his contract where he thought he deserved some more money, so he and his agent Drew Rosenhouse met with Andy Reid and the David Banner to try and come up with some sort of deal but nothing was reached at that time. Owens then threatened to hold out if a new contract wasnt reached in time for training camp. When training camp came on August 10, 2005 Owens was suspended by the team for 2 weeks for conduct unsatisfactory to the team. More controversy started to unfold though as the season went on, during an interview with espn Owens stated that he felt the eagles would be undefeated if they had a quarterback like Brett Favre instead of Donovan Mcnabb, where he also took the time to critisize the team and organization for not publicly recognizing his 100th career touchdown catch. On November 5,
2005 Owens was suspended from the team for conduct detrimental to the team and if that wasn't bad enough sources close to the eagles stated that former eagles teamate hugh douglas and Owens got into a physical fight in the locker room the day after. This angered alot of sports analyists especially on espn before the washington redskins eagles game on November 6, 2005 the announcer called Owens a selfish jerk. On March 14, 2006 his career with the eagles had ended as they released him and four days later Jerry Jones and the cowboys signed him to a multimillion dollar contract. Many will hope though that Owens and bledsoe can get along cause many know Bledsoe to have a bad temper at times and you know that doesn't go well with owens. Many think that Owens was starting his stuff early in Dallas where he didnt practice for 14 days due to a hamstring injury but he was just making sure he was healthy enough to practice because he actually stepped back on the field on August 16, 2006 with the cowboys for training ca
mp and that has to please his new coach Bill Parcells. Well what does this season hold in the Days of our lives TO edition stay tuned and find out im sure you will be entertained.
